Mykl Lozin - lovin' the EPOCH

Greetings from Australia

I just found this site via a link to one of my music vid clips, so I thought I'd better drop in and say hi to all the electric string players and makers out there.
As for me, I have been a pro player for over 30 years in just about every style I could draw my bow across, playing in Symphony Orchestras to Rock Bands etc, etc in many places around the world.
I am an endorsed EPOCH player - and have my own Signature Series Instrument - a 5 string carbon fibre violin which I affectionetly call "the Blue Flame". Which by the way, I totally love, and it is by far the best electric violin I have ever played !!!
I use it everywhere from session work to stage performance....and apart from the odd string breaking it has been flawless with absolute consistantcy of tone - indoor and outdoor.

In Australia it has been seen gracing the stage with me when performing live with The Violent Femmes - Stevie Wright - Phil Emmanuel - Angry Anderson - Bob Daisley - Ian Cooper - Vanessa Amorossi and many other cool musos too.

So its a bit of a plug for the boys at Epoch - but hey, they did it right for me!

Also there lots of info about my music etc on the ole Google search.

Have a great day,

Mykl

Hi Mykl.
an honour and a privlege to hear from you - Forgive my ignorance, but I listened to some of that Ascension, and you clearly have recorded sound as you like it! Lovely vibe.
The gig video I have posted was a bit of a compromise; we used the house's backline rather than our own gear, and the pa monitors weren't working at all. - I'm sometimes suprised to see racks of elaborate kit producing average results. My fiddle does sound a tad thin though. Hmmm. My chosen rig has always been a bassamp - perhaps I'll say the camera was handheld at a loudish gig? - Fairly rapid learning curve for me with this particular band though, and I was pleased with getting in control of my sound over the few months we gigged, in a range of venues, experimenting with various amps. - been a while since I'd played live and loud.
On the subject of pa feeds, I've had disastrous sounds emanating from my instrument in the past, and not always me making them, so for now, I like to keep my various controls close by! I don't know if this may be endemic to (or of,) amplified violinists? Anyway, just hope to gain more experience - play more, and hopefully better. Love to play, especially when it's right.
I'll research the equipment you recommend as soon as possible, and once again, many thanks for your comments.
Incidentally, I have a fiddle playing niece in Oz, one Laura Targett. She tells me she played at the Woodford Festival over the New Year?
Cheers.
