5 string electric wanted
Submitted by barrytargett on Wed, 2007-05-23 18:42.
Interested in finding a replacement 5 string electric violin. I have a cheap one, semiacoustic, with an unreliable pickup. I've been playing a skeleton type 4 string live which has proved just fine, but now have a new interest in 5 strings. I'm interested in anything, probably solid, probably affordable. I'm based S.E.London.
Cheers!

EPOCH electric violins
Hi Barry,
Check out the EPOCH range of electric violins from Australia. Probably not the cheapest, but they sound brilliant, and are so easy to play, acoustic & electric.
I highly recommend them no matter what your level of playing.

Barry, in the UK, I can
Barry, in the UK, I can recommend Bridge, Starfish and Brewer, Sound is a personal choice, so you need to try these instruments out. Late notice, but there will be a wide range of electric violins at Fiddle Hell in Buxton this weekend. Check out the fiddle forum. Am also bringing my Wood Viper and Zeta from the US.

5 string electric violin wanted in UK.
Hey Madfiddler,
many thanks for your reply. - Will research this information next. I was beginning to think I should quit my day job and return to carving electric violins! ... seemed only the US. makers were producing 5 strings.
By the way, saw your vid on youtube, and am well impressed. - Violin and rock n' roll has never been an easy marriage, but from what I've seen, you do it as best as I've seen.
Just checked the Fiddle hell on google, and I see I have much to do!
Thanks again,
Barry

ps. Too late to make Buxton, but I was near Ilkeston, collecting a vintage Hammond the weekend before last. - Small world!
Thanks for the kind words

Hammond
It's a 1969 't' series, has leslie, but baffle has been removed. - has a 9-pin leslie out for a future upgrade (when I find more space!) It has me in Hammond heaven. I'm no keyboardist, but it seems to me to make pretty much most of the sounds of the revered B3. - got drawbars an tonewheels. - my other hammond just has presets. - got it on ebay (can I say that here?) for a song from Justin Dodsworth, Hammondist extraordinaire, who did play me some tunes on his mighty B3 with external Leslie. Wow!
great to hear from you. Your sites look very polished. Will have a thorough look soon as I can...
Gotta be up at six for the day job...
Cheers,
Barry.
