Buying a new electric

Hi all, I'm a Violin performance major at a big music school, been playing violin around 14 years now.

A few years back I got a very crappy stagg electric violin which was ok for the little things I used it for, but I'm looking now at getting a new good quality 5 string for around 2k'ish.

Right now I'm looking mainly at the Mark Wood Sabre (with the barbara pickup) and the NS 5 string electric - does anybody have any personal experience with either of them? Or have any other suggestions within $1500 - 2500 price range?

Thanks!

Buying a New Violin

hi There

I'm may be a little late - but I just wondered if you had bought the Wood Sabre? I am Viper player and have never looked back.

Hey, I actually ended up

Hey, I actually ended up getting the NS 5 string and I absolutely love it - Very quality well made instrument, with a great sound. Definitely recommend it for anybody else looking at electrics who don't really want to change their technique when playing such as the Viper :)

Are you still looking?

I haven't had any direct experience with electric violins but, based on your post and the comments above you may be interested in comparing the Sabre or NS at http://astore.amazon.com/electricviolin00-20?%5Fencoding=UTF8&node=30

All the best with your performance major.
